Create glass effect to object at blender render engine in blender

Hi friends in this post we are going to see how to create glass effect to object at blender render engine in blender.

• First we apply edge or plain border to cube object which we have taken for this concept.
• So go to Render option and choose post processing.

• It’s your own wish to set threshold and color.I have chosen full maximum threshold value and black.

• Now goto Material tab and scroll down .You can see the Transparency option.Check the Transparency Option and expand it.

• Choose the option Raytrace.

• Here you can see lot of options such as

Alpha
Specular
Fresnal
Blend
IOR
Filter
Falloff
Limit
Depth
In the above option Fresnel,blend,IOR are needed very important to create glassy effect and it is more than enough to create simple glass effect.

• IOR - Index of Refraction:
  It means when a ray passes through a material (or)object, rays will refract and displays distorted background image.
• Index of refraction value varies from one material to another material.
• The Index of Refraction value for the Glass is 1.51714.It was also given in blender material.
• Fresenel is like fresnel lens which tries to cover & show maximaum distance.Here fresnel is  more helpful for IOR to show it full ouput in the scene.
• Blend option helps to control transparent
  and non-transparent areas.
• So now set the Glass IOR value in the respective field.

• I am setting fresnel and blend value 2 for a simple glass effect.

• You can check how the object will look in the Preview option.

• Now render the scene by pressing the key F12 and you will get the output like below.
